First Lunch
Made it through the morning without really feeling hungry. I find that my mouth just wants to munch. for lunch I had the cream of chicken soup. I mixed it with a cup of steamed broccoli. I think next time I'll make the soup a bit thinner. The taste was fine. I added a bit of sea salt and pepper. No aftertaste again. I made myself a salad with half a bunch of romaine. And for my second cup of veggies, I chopped up some green pepper, cucumbers and a scallion to add to the salad. I used one half tsp. olive oil and about the same of apple cider vinegar for the dressing. Plus some sea salt. I feel relatively full. Although, my mouth says, "Give me chocolate.!" I made a glass of ice tea - no sweetner (just splenda), to replace the onion taste in my mouth with something a little bit sweeter. That's all for now!
The Last Supper
Last night I had what Joel called, my "last supper." That was my last hoorah before starting the "Ideal Protein" diet. I had greasy, cheesy, stuffed crust pepperoni pizza from "Pizza Hut." Guess what? It really wasn't all that good.
This morning I started my ideal protein diet (IP). The first thing I did was to parcel out the supplements for the week. I took 7 baggies and labelled them for each weekday. Then I placed one day's worth of pills into each bag. Then, I measured out my daily portion of one-half tsp. of the sea salt and placed that in a bag. I was ready to go. Drank one glass of water before I started my prep work. Then I took my morning supplements with one glass of water.
So what to have for breakfast? Deborah raved about the dark chocolate pudding, so I thought I'd try that. She mentioned that it is especially nice as a frosty -- mixed in the blender with ice. But I decided to try it as is for now. I can get more fancy later when I need more variety. I measured out the water in the IP shaker, added the contents of the packet and the little shaker "ball." It mixed up smoothe remarkably quickly. Then for the taste. Not bad. It has a rich texture and is not overly sweet. I'm used to lots of very sweet things, so I find it somewhat less than perfect. The good news is that it leaves no aftertaste, like some diet shakes do. I believe I will add this one to my regular IP diet. I will make a note of that on my product list, so I will be prepared for my next order.
I am permitted to have a cup of tea (or coffee) at this point. I'm not a coffee drinker at all and only an infrequent tea drinker, so I will skip this option for now. Again, when I need more variety I will have that in my back pocket.
I ate the pudding right out of the shaker. Licked off the silver ball (don't get excited) and the inside of the lid to get every morsel. Note to self: It would be helpful to have a long handled (sundae or ice tea) spoon to excavate to the bottom of the shaker without getting my hands full of pudding.
I am 55 years old. I am 5 feet, one-half inch tall (and possibly shrinking). This morning I weighed in on my home scale at 130 lbs. When I signed up last week, Susan's fancy dancy office scale weighed me in at just under 32 lbs. I suspect that my clothes might weigh about 2 lbs. That would explain the difference. Also, no two scales are exactly alike.
I would like to get down to at least 121 lbs. That is the upper end of an acceptable weight for my height and build. In the good old days I weighed about 110-115. Don't know that I can or really want to get down to that weight. My body has changed since menopause and I'm not sure how that would look on me. I don't want to look emaciated. I'm thinking around 116-118 would be good for me. We'll see.
I don't feel terribly overweight at the moment. However, I look overweight and I don't like the way my clothes fit (or don't) fit me. I would like to be able to go into a store and find lots of clothes that look good on me. At this point, the "me" is what is in need of the improvement more than the clothes. I must say, however, that I am pretty adept at choosing clothes that are more flattering to my body type. That is very restrictive and I would like to be free of that.
So far I feel fine. The pudding and the first dose of supplements are settling in nicely. Would I like to eat some more? You betcha! Especially some of those dark chocolate covered almonds I have hidden in my dresser drawer. Am I really hungry? No, not really. I'll have some more water and I'll be fine.
